She was about as tall as Stefan and me (a little under 6 feet). Stefan's parents, born, as I was, around the end of WWII, are closer to 5 feet tall. I realized that the difference in height must have been caused by postwar malnutrition, but until now I hadn't known that the malnutrition was Allied policy.
