I'd have been happy to join you for it, if I had been in the neighborhood and had been invited.

As for "Misericordia," I checked and found that in the Catholic missal, that introit antiphon has been shifted to the following Sunday, with a gospel reading on the theme of Jesus as shepherd in each year of the three-year cycle. Unfortunately, nowadays the introit antiphons are chanted even less frequently that they were before the liturgical reforms.

I had a professor of French at Georgetown — Robert Lowe — who was a big Charpentier enthusiast. I seem to recall that he had some part in the rediscovery of Charpentier scores after WWII. Classes in those days began with a prayer (at least some of them did) and he'd always conclude the prayer with the invocation "Saint Marc-Antoine," to which we'd reply, "Priez pour nos," or maybe more correctly for public prayer, "Prie …"

While I was taking his course on French Theater, the Charpentier "Te Deum" was performed across town at Catholic University. He may have suggested that we should kneel during the verse "Te ergo quæsumus" as was customary within liturgy. Anyway, it was an important element of my introduction to baroque music — a truly magnificent piece.
