Sunday & (a little deja vu)

a poor “translation”

It is difficult to make meaningful images, when everything is so gloomy. And no, I do not mean to suggest fateful affinity for this state, just because I was born into it long ago. Not for nothing all these heavy holidays like People's mourning day, etc. are in November.

Enough of it.

One incident was entertaining. When I on Saturday evening started a little rain walk towards Zierker Lake, I was greeted just before the Orangery by a gentleman in a wheelchair, who obviously enjoyed the illuminated castle church, in the rain: "you have pretty cats." The critters had actually followed me; probably on the assumption that I would all the food that still rightfully should be theirs (they were fed already) hide somewhere in front of them. In the rain!

If anyone after looking at the pictures below would think, I've seen it before. Indeed. Even the appetite of Mrs. W. is currently rather subdued. So I simply repeated the last Sunday with a deviation. About that later.

Just a short caption. On the baking sheet you can see potato slices, rosemary and (a little bit too much) toasted onions. But do not worry, somehow they got better again. Almost at the same time I had seared chicken thighs in butter with pepper, salt and red pepper (the latter a bit later). Soon they joined the half-baked potatoes in the oven, with all the fat naturally. Some people like that.

Oh, the deviation. Those were beans, cooked in a previously boiled water with savory and hand dried oregano, final doused with brown butter (which was bought of course, the butter).

The (very) moderate images at the end: One is kind of touching yellowish jovial, the other rather cold, if we speak of light. Both are wrong, you have to imagine something somewhere near.

That's really interesting about the cats.

It looks like a very successful meal. I suppose it was being covered by the chicken while moisture escaped from the potatoes and fat dripped from the chicken that revived the onions. People say that animal fat is not good for us, but I like to retain some in the food I cook. It tastes good. It also provides energy (i.e., calories).

There is an incident in the book "Northwest Passage." A troop of American Revolutionary War soldiers have been in the wilderness for some time and the first-person narrator tells of their catching some squirrels, which they cooked. But the squirrels had very little fat, so they had little food value.

Your translations are far better than the automatic ones.

@naturgesetz Thanks, so that at least. Languages are alien to me I fear, even our beloved old ones. So, if you find a really embarrassing mistake, please tell me, so my concern might be founded moor. You guessed the most about the meal indeed. But the cats are strange aren't they? Maybe just their normal behaviour. Thanks for visiting.

Irfanview ... gibts das auch noch? ;-) Ich erinnere mich dunkel.
