Über einen 5. November

kind of "translated"

It would of course be more original to say, this happened on the same day, but actually it happened last Saturday. I was once again lying on the couch (for explanation, just one day thereafter I began to guard it nearly around the clock) and heard from afar the sound of a heavily suffering cat. Well, that's silly mean, but it was a bit kind of it, plaintive sounds penetrating a sleepy spirit(?), who thinks then quickly: 'Oh, is it now all over and done?' It was a bagpipe.

So we are now finally in the second half of our (personal) century. At least I heard this several times then whatsoever as a threat / promise / joke. My prophetic response was usually - that should be the rather morbid part of it then.

In other words: I was born on November 5, in 1963, in a town called Friedland (incidentally also located in the Grand Duchy of Mecklenburg-Strelitz), in other words - a large part of my life happened in the borders of this so long not any more existing (little) Duchy. Strange as well.

The young man, who played the bagpipe in the nasty cold of November very brave (and beautiful), as I found out coming nearer, after I pulled myself together, was standing in front of the “Orangerie” (it's right across the street, so to speak, since it's a place not a street). And as he told me, he did this because of a whiskey-tasting that should there happen soon. So he was sort of a living invitation to it.

My birthday itself was strange so far, as I had not invited anyone (well, some forgot that, but I had already a strange feeling). After I pulled myself together for the usual choir rehearsal in the evening I was even greeted there with the familiar "Happy Birthday", which was very nice.

But then I was for more or less 3 days rather trapped in an observer role and at the same time amazed about the people, who had reminded of my birthday, especially of those that I had annoyingly neglected from the weakness of mind etc. throughout the passed year. And now I have somehow to sweep together the pieces from all the undeserved and neglected attention. *Sigh!
