Sonntag & Advent

poorly translated

If you want to stop your higher brain activity quickly try a duck dish, at least according to the prevailing recipes here. After a long recovery sleep so the usual report. A duck filled with Boskoop apples, once again. The sauce from the gravy (after much fat skimmed off) was made with adding freshly squeezed lemon juice, some sugar and pepper and red wine in particular. And cauliflower with “heated” butter, here we see how it got less. Oh, one more picture at the end of Advent, not taken today, today the weather fluctuated between a little sun and rather more dark

Also, die Zubereitung. ;-)
Was gab's denn als Sättigungsbeilage?

I wonder if, pound for pound, ducks or gees have more fat. Once or twice I decided to follow what I take to be the tradition somewhere or other where some branch of my ancestors one lived, and have a Christmas goose. Not bad, but there was a lot of fat. I understand that goose grease was once used to waterproof boots.

Anyway, geese, like ducks, seem to have become "as scarce as hen's teeth" in the supermarkets. For two people, of course, a goose would be too much, but a duck would be festive for New Years.

Maybe instead of bemoaning the lack of ducks in the market, I should occasionally buy a chicken.

Well, anyway, your duck looks good, and I'm sure the gravy was tasty too.

@naturgesetz I think all in all ducks have usually more fat. Strange to hear about this lack of ducks in your supermarkets because they are still popular here. It was ok so far, but I fear & it's obviously so, heavy meals bring the mind into a near-death slumber. Not nice.
